Key Stage 2 SATs
Key Stage 2 (KS2) SATs: Information for Parents
At Park Primary School, we understand that national tests can sometimes feel worrying for parents and children. We aim to ensure that pupils feel confident, supported and well prepared for their Key Stage 2 SATs.
What Are KS2 SATs?
KS2 SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) take place in Year 6 and are used to assess children’s knowledge and understanding at the end of primary school.
The tests cover: - Reading - Grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) - Mathematics
Writing is assessed by teachers using children’s work throughout the year.
The results help secondary schools understand each child’s academic strengths and areas for development, supporting a smooth transition to the next stage of education.
Reassuring Our Pupils
At Park Primary School, we place great importance on children’s wellbeing. We remind pupils that SATs are just one way of showing what they know and can do. They do not define them as individuals.
We prepare children gradually and carefully through high-quality teaching, regular practice and supportive encouragement. Tests are completed in a calm, familiar environment, and staff are always on hand to offer reassurance.
Our main aim is for children to try their best and feel proud of their efforts.
